This is a project for individual tattoo creator who is looking for a new website to improve her digital presence and present her achievements and services. The goal was to represent the client’s personal brand online. The design needs to be modern and correspond with personal style based on provided photos, other materials and brand workshops I have conducted.
The variety of target audiences presented some challenges with the website architecture. The amount of information to show on the website was potentially problematic because of cognitive overload of users.
I began with before mentioned brand workshops, which provided me with a clear direction of the project. The experimental workshop with the client, which took about 3 hours, gave me a detailed insight into client expectations and needs. What started as a simple conversation about landing page, evolved into a broad discussion about target audiences, brand direction, values, non-obvious purposes. I have conducted exercises which answered questions about what does the client offer, why, and how, to best understand the whole scope of project. We also defined the tone of voice in which the website will talk about the client. After the workshops, I have prepared moodboards and showed them to the client to ensure visual aliment with their vision. From then on I created some mock ups and did the research. I have analyzed previously gathered information and prepared the wireframes. After approval, I designed one home page and three sub-pages that present the artist, her work, podcast, and experience, using vibrant colors and her own tattoo designs. To ensure compelling brand voice, I have reach out to befriended copywriter to work on all written data.
The page was reported to be compelling in terms of branding and engaging in terms of UX/UI. The colors, typography and overall design is seen as well representing the client persona and her works. Design and informational architecture is not perceived as overwhelming, but rather fun and informative. The clear presentation of numeric data was said to give the sense of all the important information being out in the open, and therefore being professional and honest.
